- You may not take a job that keeps you from working on Sunday.
- You may keep a job within the first two years that keeps you from working during midweek class, non-member class, or personal work.
- Within the first two years, you are expected to give up any job that requires you to work during midweek class, non-member class, or personal work.
- You may not take a job that may require you to relocate.
- You may not keep a job that suddenly asks you to relocate (unless there is an established church in that location, or you are trusted enough to start a church in that location).
- You may not be a paramedic, nurse, doctor, or any other job that may require you to see someone naked.
- You may not have or keep a job that requires you to carry a gun and potentially use it, even in the defense of innocent victims of a crime.
- You may not enlist in any branch of the military, because you may be required to miss church on Sunday or other church functions, and because you may be required to harm or kill an enemy combatant.
- You may, however, work as a civilian contractor for the military, supporting such efforts to kill enemy combatants.
- Working for the government is always encouraged, because you have better job security and can take more time off for church functions than in non-government jobs.
- You may not take or keep a job that requires you to take a client, such as a handicapped individual that receives recreation-types of services, to a movie theater to watch a movie. G rated movies are no exception.

That narrows down where and what you can do to support your family! Sounds like they need to pay the members so they can just go to classes etc. I am astounded by the things that are posted. Their God is much different than mine! I pray that they find God’s Grace eventually.
Actually members are NOT allowed to relocate because of a job transfer. Back in the 70s moving to a different city because of a job transfer was acceptable because it was a way for a new congregation to start however, since the late 70s/early 80s a job transfer is not an approved reason to move unless a huge exception is made because of extenuating circumstances.
But wait…I thought God’s laws don’t change. :-/
Oh but Kevin, those are judgments and judgments are subject to change with regularity. You must understand that the church teaches and enforces judgments but judgments are not rules OR doctrine, just judgments. Judgments are not conscience matters; conscience matters are conscience matters; you know, the matters the church decides are conscience matters; and judgments are judgments the church decides are judgments. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it ;-/

These are excellent points. This type of thing is covered pretty well by Jesus’s teaching to the Pharisees: Mark 7:13 – Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that. I also think part of their rationale is a ridiculously misinterpreted verse that they take to mean once you “add on” a particular church function (meaning attending it) you can’t stop attending it. I agree Curious Chris; the misuse of the term ‘walking disorderly’ to withdraw from people is a good example of twisting the scriptures in order to shut the mouth of anyone who dares to disagree. Spiritual abuse is what it is; pure and simple.
I want to throw this out there I am not here to name names nor am I here to bash anyone or talk crud against any one member. Sorry again that I’ve been absent for awhile as the moderator here, but I totally agree with you on voting, Dave Ramsey, and even Robert Kiyosaki to a certain extent. I’ve learned a lot from both of these two men, and I’m certainly not wealthy or materially minded or obsessed. But Dave Ramsey in particular is a fantastic role model for Christians.
